“Meditation is the discovery that the point of life is always arrived at in the immediate moment.” – Alan Watts
Meditation Retreat: Backpacking in the Great Smoky Mountains
When you truly immerse yourself in nature, the busy and hectic outside world begins to fade away, allowing you to slow down and appreciate the present moment. On this 3 day/2 night trip we will incorporate mindful practices as we dive deeper within ourselves while taking time to appreciate this diverse and lush national park.
We offer a truly unique experience combining meditation practices along side our guided backpacking trips. We'll spend our first night at a base camp in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains, giving us time to teach you the backpacking and meditation skills you'll use for the weekend. We'll teach you everything you need to know about backpacking: the ABC's of packing a backpack, LNT principles, back country cooking, setting up camp, etc. Then we'll explore meditation practices as we incorporate mindfulness into our wilderness excursions. We'll do a day hike on our first day, which will focus on silent meditation so that you can truly immerse yourself in your surroundings, becoming aware of the forest and our own place in nature. On our second day we'll put our new skills to use and and backpack 3-5 miles to camp. Once we get to camp and set up, you will have the opportunity to participate in mindful, soul centered work, as well as time relaxing by the creek or in your hammock. We'll end the day by eating around a fire, exploring and sharing what we observed in ourselves and the world around us. On our last day we'll head back to civilization, learning how to incorporate our new sense of calm and peace into our every day lives. Whether you're a beginner or experienced in backpacking & meditation, this trip will strengthen your outdoor and spiritual skills. We will guide and teach you backpacking and meditation basics, spending time away from our devices and connecting back to our souls. Once you have booked with us you will receive more details about your trip and packing list. Email us at email@example.com if you have any questions.
